Comics about Mikey
Several of Mikey's qualities were often found in the funny pages. Have a look!

Mikey was food motivated. There was absolutely no doubt about that.

This is a pretty good description of Mikey. He was terrified of thunder, fireworks and the jets that zoomed over our house during the annual air show. He was not fazed at all by the vacuum cleaner however.

Mikey absolutely LOVED spaghetti, especially the sauce. No idea why.

Mikey was good about going to the vet but much prefered visiting the "magic window" -- any drive-thru. He happily leapt into the car for a ride anytime.

Mikey loved popcorn. We didn't actually put popcorn on the tree and this is one reason why.

Mikey didn't actually "beg" in this sense. Instead, he would stare... and stare...

This was Mikey to a "T", down to waiting under the table during the meal.

Is there any other kind?

Mikey shed SOOO much fur. It's amazing that he wasn't bald!

This is perfect! Mikey liked to come sit on the newspaper when someone is reading it as if to say "ahem, if that's where your attention is focused, I'll make sure to be there."

Yep, this was Mikey.

Mikey actually did this. A pill was put inside a good sized piece of sausage which he accepted eagerly. He kind of rolled it around in his mouth and gummed it a bit until he had managed to swallow the sausage - and then he spit out the pill! It was incredible!

I often said this when I left for work - BEFORE reading it in the funny pages.

Mikey would bask in the sun all the time if he had his way.

So this is what Mikey did while Fox and I were out on dates!

Mikey was so easily bribed with treats. Hold one out and he'd be the most submissive dog you've ever seen.

Mikey may have been scared of some things, but the vacuum cleaner was not one of them. He wouldn't move until told to by a human as he gave no recognition to the vacuum's claim of floor space.

Yeah! When wasn't it a good time for a walk?

Mikey hated water. Strange thing for a lab as most of his breed love the water.

Mikey loved his dinner.

This was as fast as Mikey eats his dinner. I'm not sure when he found the time to chew it since it seemed like he would just inhale it!

Sooooo true!

Mikey looked exactly like this when we tried to get him to go outside in the winter. Not so much the snow, since we're in Oregon, but the rain. He hated the rain and water in general.

Sometimes we wonder if this was how Mikey felt about Cosmo.

So true! Mikey would sometimes whine and complain that he needed to go outside. When we opened the door and he saw that it was pouring rain, he would decide he didn't really need to go after all. We made him go outside at those times anyway since it was obvious he had an unmet need and just didn't want to get wet.

Mikey was very treat motivated. Fortunately, because we kept an eye on it, he wasn't overweight. If he had his way, though, he would have eaten all the doggy treats in the pantry at once.

Mikey didn't beg like this at meals, fortunately, but he could be just as adamant as this pooch when he wanted his greenie toothbrush or a treat. If we were upstairs working on our computers, he would act like he needed to go outside or something to get us to follow him downstairs. He'd then lead us to the treat cupboard. Silly dog.
