Cosmo
Cosmo was our tuxedo cat. We adopted him in August 2009, when he was around 6 months old. I was in desperate need of something to love to help me heal from the loss of our twins. Cosmo has done that and more over the years. He was a wonderful foot warmer while sleeping on cold winter nights and could always be counted on to catch any mice who may wander into our house.
He was full of personality. He claimed the ottoman as his own and would make it known when we needed to move stuff off of it so he could be there in unmistakeable ways. He loved sunny spots. Sometimes I'd pet him while he was in the sun and be amazed at how hot his fur was, but he seemed perfectly content and comfortable. At dinner time, he'd often be the first one at the table, sitting (mostly) patiently in a chair for us to bless the food and give him some milk. He was a very social cat, always coming to see who was visiting. When we'd have lots of people over, he'd walk through to get an idea of who all was there and then settle down somewhere close enough to keep an eye on things. The first or second weekend we had him, an Air Show brought loud planes flying right over our house. Didn't bother him at all. He was just that chill.
One of his quirks was that he was always trying to eat my lotion. I have a bottle on my desk at home, and he would frequently come in and try to lick any lotion remaining on the spout. EWWWW!! Sometmes I simply had to hide it because he would NOT give up.
He passed away on 23 September 2023 at the age of 14
